We'd love for you to experience Manukapua

Tapora is located 30minuntes from Wellsford or 1hr 30mins from Auckland and Whangarei. Access to Manukapua is located on Okahukura Road. Please be respectful as the access track is through private and Department of Conservation land. There is parking on Okahukara Road.

If you would like to stay longer there is a accommodation at Tapora Campground next to Tapora Golf Course.

On the way to Tapora you will pass Atiu Creek Regional Park. The park offers huge panoramic views, native bush and well defined walking areas.

Getting to Tapora and Manukapua

Getting to Manukapua - Sand Island

The track to Manukapua starts on Okahukura Road. We want you to have a safe and enjoyable time on Manukapua so please:

• Use the Carpark to the South of the entrance if you are walking

• The track crosses private and Department of Conservation land. Please be respectful

• Driving on the track will require a 4wheel drive vehicle

• Be aware of tides when crossing to Manukapua, either on foot or in a vehicle

• There are no rescue vehicles available if you get stuck

• Birdwatching, walking, swimming, fishing from Manukapua is welcome

• 4wheel driving, camping and lighting fires on the island is prohibited

• Take your rubbish home with you
